This feature is experimental. The tools around it are new, still evolving, and you may run into rough edges. We're shipping it now because we think it's worth trying, not because it's finished.
Every story we've helped you produce so far has had exactly one path through it — start to finish, precisely as written. Today that changes: you can now build stories where the listener's choices decide what happens next.
What's an Interactive Production?
An Interactive Production is a branching version of your story. Instead of one straight line from first scene to last, a scene can end in a choice, jump somewhere else in the story, or mark a real ending — and you decide which finished audio or video take fills each one.
It's best thought of as a wireframe: a map of how your scenes connect, with pointers to whichever already-completed productions bring each one to life. Nothing about your existing audio and video workflow changes — Interactive Production just arranges what you've already made into something playable in more than one order.
How it works
- Mark a project interactive when you create it (a new project, or your next upload) — this can't be switched on later, so decide up front.
- Author the branches on that project's Story Map: mark scenes as a Start, a Choice with two or more options, a Jump to a specific scene, or an End.
- Fill in the structure from the new Interactive Production page in the left sidebar — pick an already-completed audio or video take for each scene, or produce a fresh one right from there. Add a cover image and per-scene art while you're at it.
- Publish, then turn on Community Share to give it a title, a description, and a public link on our Stories page.
From there, anyone with the link gets a cover image and a Start button, then the story plays itself out scene by scene, branching wherever you built it to. You can also download a self-contained, fully offline copy — one file, no account or internet connection required to play it.
What it costs
Building and publishing an Interactive Production is free. You only ever pay for the audio and video productions you use to fill it in — priced exactly the same as they always have been. The branching structure itself doesn't add a cent.
Try it
Look for Interactive Production in the left sidebar of any signed-in page. Full details, including how branching, sharing, and the offline download work, are in our Interactive Productions documentation.
We'd genuinely like to hear what you build with it, what's confusing, and what breaks — this is day one for a feature we expect to keep changing.
