Writing With Quill
Radio Novel isn't just an AI production studio — Quill is your AI writing partner, from a blank page to a finished manuscript.
Create Your First Story
Don't have a manuscript yet? Describe your idea on the homepage or from My Projects, choose a single book or a multi-book series, and click Create Your First Story (or Build with Quill, inside the app). Quill thinks it through at the book — or series — level first: overall plot, how it resolves, how the books connect. It then builds chapter-by-chapter outlines with plot points, proposes a cast of characters, and flags anything it's unsure about in that project's Backlog for you to decide. This runs in the background, so feel free to navigate away and check back.
Quill: A Research & Writing Partner
Once you're in a project, open Quill (the sparkle icon) to chat with your AI collaborator, who can, on your instruction:
- Research — live web search and page lookups, so your world-building can be grounded in real facts.
- Draft or rewrite chapter prose — write a new scene, extend one, or revise existing text.
- Manage your outline and cast — update chapter plans, characters, and their bios/arcs.
- Flag open decisions — add notes to your project's Backlog rather than guessing.
Every tool call is a real, immediate change — there's no separate "apply" step to review and accept. That's exactly why every change is also saved as its own version (see below): immediate doesn't mean irreversible.
Version-Controlled, Human + AI Collaboration
Every time a chapter's text is saved — whether you typed it or Quill wrote it — it becomes a new, numbered version in that scene's Version History, never overwriting what came before. Each version is clearly tagged: a gray AI badge marks anything Quill wrote or edited; no badge means you wrote it yourself. You can compare any two versions, copy text out of an older one, or revert to it outright, at any time.
This is deliberate: your finished story is a documented, human-directed collaboration with a real audit trail, not an opaque "the AI wrote it" black box. You always know — and can show — exactly which parts came from you and which came from Quill.
